Waar ben ik? Ga ik ergens naar toe of kom ik terug? Alles is in beweging, ik steek mijn hand er even tussen om iets ervan duidelijk te maken. I was born in Canada. My mother came from Holland and my father from Indonesia of Dutch, French and Chinese-Indonesian descent. Before becoming an artist I worked as a flight attendant in Saudi Arabia, a waitress in an Irish pub in Hong Kong, an English teacher in Japan and an irrigation pipe cutter in Israel. Years later in New Mexico, my back got cold as the bonfire in front of me died. Fikt het gras? Het onbevangen helmgras roept allerlei spanningen op. Een vroege ervaring met een tornado wordt opgerakeld in de Nederlandse duinen (loslaten, loslaten). Wat is boven en wat is onder, het licht komt ergens vandaan. Iemand loopt langs het raam (oogcontact). Tussen het gras zie ik beton (waar ik vandaan kom). Het begin en het eind gaan in elkaar over. Mijn voeten zitten in het zand.
