TEACHING EXPERIENCE


UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA, BC, CANDA:

Special Practices (Summer Studies intensive studio/theory course) , 05/2008 - 07/2008.
Instructor for third-year level, directed studio and contemporary practice course, with focus on in-situ-ations and para-sites. Readings (both critical texts and alternative writings), studio and gallery visits, students presentations, and studio practice made up the course work.

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA:

Sculpture 200 Introduction to Sculpture: Spatial Practices, 09/2001 - 04/2002.
Instructor for this beginning level sculpture class.  Course included ideas in object-making, functionality, installation-based practice, interactivity, nomadism, ephemerality and permanence, and sound. Readings (both critical texts and alternative writings), studio and gallery visits, students presentations, and studio practice made up the course work for this full year studio class.

FFAR 250 The Performing and Visual Arts, 09/2000-04/2002
Tutorial Instructor for two sections of this lecture-based course.  Duties included: clarifying and elaborating on the topics raised in weekly lectures; facilitating class discussions; development of assignments and essay topics; grading coursework.

Ceramics 399 Art and the Everyday, 09/2000-04/2001.
Teaching Assistant to Gisele Amantea, Ingrid Bachmann, and Annie Martin.  Duties included:
organization of a class exhibition presented in the VAV Gallery; helping students with work-in-progress by problem solving and trouble-shooting; assisting the professors in organizing coursework and other activities; critiques of student work.

Sculpture 400, 09/1999-04/2000.
Teaching Assistant to Andy Dutkewych and Trevor Gould.  Duties included:  ongoing assistance to the students in developing their ideas and projects; fielding questions and directing discussions; presentations on the work of professional artists; introducing critical readings; critiques of student work.

NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY, LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO, USA:             

Introduction to Sculpture, 01-05/1998, 01-05/1999.
Teaching assistant to Rachel Stevens.  Duties included: instruction in molding and casting, woodwork and welding
techniques; introduction to ideas on installation, context, and contemporary art practice.
